Reading Support
We are a team of Reading Specialists trained in Reading Recovery-Behind the Glass, Early Intervention Strategies, PALS, Focus, Project Read- Phonics and Reading Comprehension, Saxon Phonics, and many more.
Our specialist will:
Work together with you to determine individual goals for your child in explicit and implicit reading recovery strategies
Work with other educators and therapists in-clinic to achieve educational goals faster
Apply appropriate interventions to help your child with reading decoding
Conduct a dynamic evaluations with assessment tools to ensure a progress plan tailored to the needs of your individual child uses state of the art research based evaluation tools like AimsWeb.
Teach and support parental tools so that you may help your child
Design session notes shared between specialist and parent, intervention strategies to use at home
Teach explicit & multi-sensory phonics instruction to learn sounds & syllables, instruction in morphology & etymology
Teach phonemic & phonological awareness using poetry and other creative strategies

Dyslexia Support and Testing
Your child may have dyslexia if you notice any of the following:
difficulty with reading comprehension
difficulty decoding words
poor memory

poor handwriting
difficulty with math facts and operations
average to high level of intelligence
gifted in other areas
Our reading and occupational health specialists will work hand in hand with your child to determine if your child has dyslexia. If diagnosed, our specialists will work with you and your child on dyslexia intervention techniques and strategies that lead to reading success. Each skill is implicitly taught as to make decoding easier. Using decidable texts, your student will scaffold to reading success. At Guidepost, we use a five step approach to comprehension dyslexia testing, assuring you get the most out of the process.
